Who We Are
Acuity Ads offers a platform that manages online display campaigns for advertisers and advertising agencies. We provide the technology for acquiring ad impressions, serving advertisements and analyzing results.
Most of the internet appears to be free. In reality, it is largely supported by advertising. Acuity aims to create a better browsing experience for audiences by presenting relevant advertising content, rather than irrelevant advertising. Advertisers also benefit since targeted advertising is more effective and better received.
We take your privacy seriously and do our utmost to protect it. We adhere to the Self-Regulatory Program for Online Behavioral Advertising, as we believe its principles protect the privacy interests of individual users. We continuously improve our privacy safeguards in order to ensure the safety and protection of your information.
The Information We Collect
We collect information that allows us to better serve our users. This information includes information such as the devices, operating systems and browsers that you use, your Internet protocol address, the websites you visit, the searches you perform and the types of advertisement that you’ve been shown and have responded to previously. In addition to the information that we collect, we also use information that we collect from other providers. This information is used in order to provide you with more personalized content and in order to assess the effectiveness of our clients’ advertising.
We obtain information using the following two methods, which are widely used across the Internet:
A cookie is a symbol that is assigned to the user the first time he is seen and is stored as a small text file in your browser. On subsequent visits, we use this symbol to know what advertisements the user has interacted with previously. Cookies cannot be used to install malware, viruses or any other harmful software and they cannot access any data on your computer other than the cookies themselves.
Pixels (also known as Web Beacons)
Pixels are tiny images embedded in a web page that allow us to know that you’ve seen the page. They also allow us to create, update and read our own cookies.
Acuity maintains strict physical, electronic and administrative safeguards to protect the user data it collects from misuse and theft. However, the nature of electronic transmission over the Internet means that it is impossible to guarantee 100 percent security. Communications transmitted over the Internet can in some cases be intercepted by others. While we do our best to protect your information on our end, we cannot guarantee the security of the information you transmit to us.
We may share non-PII summary information aggregated across many users. Acuity may share visitor data with advertising clients, but only data related to the advertisers’ own campaigns. Our data may be visible to third-party service providers such as networking and storage providers to allow them to carry out their services for us. We may store user-level data that can be used for IBA or ADR for up to 3 years maximum.
Acuity revises its policies and practices periodically. If you would like to keep up to date, please visit this page to find out about any changes. We will post any updates as well as their effective dates on this webpage.
You can easily opt-out of our cookie-based tracking by blocking all cookies in your browser although some websites rely on cookies for their normal operation and disabling cookies may disrupt their operation. Alternatively, you can set an Acuity ‘opt-out’ cookie on your browser to opt out of interest-based advertising by Acuity. Please note that the opt-out cookie only applies to the computer and browser where it is set. Also, if you delete the opt-out cookie or block it, opting-out may not work.
